Homemade Meatballs
Tender, flavor-packed meatballs made with a blend of beef and pork, parmesan, garlic, and fresh parsley. Soaking the breadcrumbs in milk keeps them incredibly juicy, whether you serve them in sauce, on a roll, or straight from the pan with a dipping sauce.
Ingredients
- 1/3 cupItalian seasoned breadcrumbs · 38g
- 1 teaspoonsalt
- 1/2 teaspoonground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoononion powder
- 1/2 teaspoonItalian seasoning
- 3 tablespoonsmilk
- 1large egg
- 2 tablespoonschopped fresh parsley
- 2 clovesgarlic · minced
- 1 poundlean ground beef · 450g
- 1/2 poundground pork · 225g
- 1/3 cupgrated parmesan cheese · freshly grated, 27g
Steps
- 1
Add the breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, onion powder, and Italian seasoning to a large bowl. Mix well to combine.
- 2
Add the milk, egg, garlic, and parsley to the breadcrumb mixture and stir until well combined, then let it sit for 5 minutes so the breadcrumbs absorb the liquid.
- 3
Add the ground beef, pork, and parmesan cheese to the soaked breadcrumbs and gently mix to combine. Shape the mixture into 16 meatballs, about 2 inches in diameter each.
- 4
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F if your model requires it.
- 5
Spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray. Place the meatballs in the air fryer with the sides touching slightly, working in batches if needed. Lightly coat the tops of the meatballs with cooking spray.
- 6
Air fry at 400°F for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F on an instant-read thermometer. Serve immediately.
Creator's notes
The secret to juicy meatballs is soaking the breadcrumbs in milk — a quick 10-minute soak makes a drastic difference, so don't skip it. The creator also developed stovetop and oven versions of this recipe; the quantities and method here follow the air fryer version from preppykitchen.com.
