Sesame Pan con Tomate
Ripe tomato grated to a pulp, stirred with toasty sesame oil and salt, then spooned over crisp garlic-rubbed sourdough. Cool, juicy, and exactly what a hot summer day calls for.
Ingredients
- —ripe tomato · very ripe
- —toasted sesame oil
- a good pinchsalt
- —sourdough bread · something with texture that can absorb the juices
- —garlic clove · for rubbing on the toast
Steps
- 1
Slice the tomato, then grate it on the coarse side of a box grater.
- 2
Stir the toasted sesame oil and a good pinch of salt into the grated tomato.
- 3
Toast the sourdough slices until nice and crisp.
- 4
Rub a cut garlic clove all over the toasted bread.
- 5
Spoon the tomato mixture over the bread and let it soak up the juices.
Creator's notes
Use a really ripe tomato and bread with enough texture to soak up the juices. Toasted sesame oil is a bold, toasty swap for the usual olive oil.
