Air Fryer Apple Tots with Maple Yogurt Dip
Grated apples bound with a touch of cornstarch and cinnamon, shaped like tater tots and air fried until puffed and golden. Rolled in cinnamon sugar and served warm with a sweet maple yogurt dip.
Ingredients
For the tots
- 2 cupsgrated apples
- 1large egg
- 2 tablespoonscornstarch
- 1 tablespoongranulated sugar
- 1 tablespoonlemon juice
- 1 teaspoonground cinnamon
For the topping
- 1/4 cupgranulated sugar
- 1 teaspoonground cinnamon
For the dip
- 1/2 cupgreek yogurt
- 1 tablespoonmaple syrup
Steps
- 1
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
- 2
Place the grated apples into a kitchen towel and squeeze all excess liquid out, discarding the liquid. It should come out to 1 cup packed after squeezing.
- 3
Transfer the dried grated apples to a medium bowl. Add the egg, cornstarch, lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon, and combine until the mixture sticks together.
- 4
Spoon about 1.5 tablespoons of the mixture and form into small ovals, like the shape of tater tots. Makes about 16.
- 5
Place the apple tots in the air fryer and cook for 8-10 minutes, turning halfway through, until they're puffed and browned.
- 6
Meanwhile, combine the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl to make the cinnamon sugar topping, and combine the yogurt and maple syrup in another bowl.
- 7
Immediately roll the hot apple tots in the cinnamon sugar. Serve with the maple yogurt dip.
Creator's notes
Inspired by @Balle. It's just like making tater tots but sweeter.
