Cantaloupe Ice Cream Bowls with Cardamom Sugar and Olive Oil
A small, chilled cantaloupe becomes the bowl for a scoop of vanilla ice cream, finished with crunchy cardamom turbinado sugar and a drizzle of olive oil. It's a quick, no-cook summer treat for a hot day.
Ingredients
- 1small cantaloupe
- —vanilla ice cream · must be vanilla
- —turbinado sugar · a little bit
- —ground cardamom · a little bit; non-negotiable
- —olive oil · a little bit, for drizzling
Steps
- 1
Cut the small cantaloupe in half and scoop out the seeds from the center.
- 2
Fill the hollow of the cantaloupe with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
- 3
Mix a little turbinado sugar with a little ground cardamom.
- 4
Sprinkle the cardamom sugar over the ice cream.
- 5
Drizzle with a little olive oil and serve right away.
Creator's notes
It has to be vanilla ice cream, because any other flavor won't taste the same. The cardamom is non-negotiable. This combination shows up in many cookbooks, so it can't be credited to one person.
