Christmas Tree Pull Apart Bread
Cheese-stuffed dough balls arranged into a festive tree, baked until golden and brushed with garlic-herb butter. Pull one apart and the mozzarella center stretches — perfect for holiday parties with a bowl of warm marinara.
Ingredients
- 1 poundprepared pizza dough
- 8mozzarella cheese sticks
- 1 1/2 teaspoonsItalian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoongarlic powder
- 1large egg
- 1 tablespoonwater
- 2 tablespoonsbutter · melted
- 1 tablespoonfresh parsley · finely chopped
- 1 tablespoongrated parmesan cheese
- 1 cupmarinara sauce · for serving
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Allow the prepared dough to come to room temperature for 15 minutes.
- 2
Cut each mozzarella cheese stick into 4 pieces to make 32 bite-size pieces. Then roll out the dough and cut it into 32 squares.
- 3
Place one mozzarella cube on top of each dough square. Sprinkle the Italian seasoning and garlic powder on top of each. Fold the edges into the center, pinch them closed, and roll the ball in your hands.
- 4
Transfer the balls to the prepared baking sheet, placing them seam-side down in the shape of a tree with a small trunk at the bottom (you will have 3 extras that you can bake on the side). Whisk the egg and water in a small bowl and brush each ball with the egg wash.
- 5
Bake for 16-18 minutes, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted. Brush the melted butter over the hot rolls and sprinkle with fresh parsley and parmesan cheese.
- 6
Serve immediately with marinara or your favorite sauce for dipping.
Creator's notes
You'll have 3 extra dough balls beyond the tree shape — bake them on the side.
