Easy Caramel Apples
Crisp apples dipped in a soft, chewy homemade brown sugar caramel that clings to every bite. Enjoy them plain or loaded with your favorite nuts and candies.
Ingredients
- 8apples · store-bought apples prepped to remove the wax coating
- —brown sugar
- —corn syrup
- —chopped nuts · optional topping
- —candies · optional topping
Steps
- 1
Prep the apples by removing the wax coating from store-bought apples so the caramel will stick.
- 2
Cook the brown sugar caramel with the corn syrup until it reaches a slightly higher temperature, which gives a thicker coating.
- 3
Dip each apple in the caramel to coat it.
- 4
Leave the apples plain, or add your favorite nuts and candies while the caramel is still tacky.
- 5
Store the apples in the fridge for up to several days.
Creator's notes
If the caramel slides off, the wax on store-bought apples is usually the cause, so prep the apples to remove it. The recipe was retested with more corn syrup and a slightly higher cooking temperature so the caramel comes out thicker and stays on the apple.
