Viral Onion Boil
A single hollowed-out onion drenched in seasoned melted butter and roasted under foil until meltingly soft and caramelized. Ridiculously simple, and impossible to stop thinking about.
Ingredients
- 1onion
- 2 tablespoonbutter · melted
- 1/4 teaspoonsalt
- 1/4 teaspoonblack pepper
- 1/4 teaspoonpaprika
- 1/4 teaspoononion powder
- 1/4 teaspoonthyme
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a small baking sheet with aluminum foil.
- 2
Cut off the stem and top of the onion, then peel it. Carve a small hole inside, about 3 onion layers deep, and remove the inner onion pieces (save them for another recipe). Place the hollowed onion on the prepared baking sheet.
- 3
In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, and thyme. Stir to combine.
- 4
Pour the butter mixture over the onion, then cover the onion with the aluminum foil so the steam stays inside. Roast for 1 hour, or until the onion is soft and caramelized.
Creator's notes
Feel Good Foodie was hesitant to share this viral TikTok onion boil since it isn't her usual kind of recipe, but three weeks later she was still thinking about it and would make it again.
